It is deeply disappointing that the OfS has decided to remove the summative question, Question 27, in the National Student Survey despite only 10% of comments agreeing with its removal. We argued to retain it as a useful measure for institutions and students and the regulators in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have decided to keep it. This further fragmentation of the UK approach to higher education, including the additional question on freedom of expression in the English-only version of the NSS, further undermines the UK-wide approach to assessing quality across the country.
