The newly formed Consortium for Research Excellence, Support and Training CREST seeks an experienced research administrator to become its first Research Network Co-ordinator. The post holder will play a pivotal role in the development of the Consortium which has been formed in order to provide a system of mutual support to “islands of excellence” in research within institutions with a stronger teaching mission. The role involves the facilitation of joint bidding, common training programmes, IT systems and repository facilities, and the creation of a virtual framework to support postgraduate research students working within the CREST membership.
The CREST arose from a Strategic Development Bid to HEFCE facilitated through GuildHE, the representative body for the heads of a diverse range of universities, university colleges and specialist institutions. The work is a form of shared service with the different Consortia members leading on a various areas of mutual support in research activity.
We are looking for an effective and confident communicator who can demonstrate excellent research, analytical, organisational and problem solving skills and who preferably holds a doctorate or postgraduate degree. You should also have a minimum of 3 years experience working in higher education if possible in a University research office or research centre. Familiarity with the work of the AHRC or ESRC would be an advantage. Reporting to the GuildHE CEO, the Co-ordinator will be based in the GuildHE London office but will travel regularly to the different institutions that are Consortium members and be in frequent contact with stakeholders.
