We are delighted to be hosting an informal version of the Three Minute Thesis contest for members of GuildHE institutions.

This session provides valuable practice for anyone who wants to participate in 3MT competitions at their institutions. It will also offer a space for people curious about the 3MT to discover what the competition is all about.

Feedback on presentations will be provided by Ellie Woodacre (University of Winchester) who runs 3MT training sessions, Susan Birch (University of Winchester) who presented for Ellie's 3MT competition in May 2024, and Peter Underwood (Bath Spa University) who participated in his institution's competition this year, receiving second place and the People's Choice award.

You can register to attend either as a presenter or audience member here: https://forms.gle/3XTuoJjfHxRe29JYA

While there will be a small prize for the winner, this is a very casual event! We are prioritising practice and feedback over competition, and a chance to get feedback from both Ellie and Peter as well as your peers.

Participants:

  • Participants will have three minutes to present about their research, in a spoken word format.
  • Participants can use one PowerPoint slide - this slide must be static (no movement/animation) and not use sound or video.
  • Please examine the more detailed rules here.

Audience:

Your job is simple - please attend the event and enjoy the presentations! We will also have some Q&A time for any outstanding questions you may have about the competition and its processes.
