As a member of the HE Mental Health Implementation Taskforce (HEMHIT), we are delighted that the Compassionate Communications Commitment has launched today.
Supported by the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education, the guidance asks HE providers to focus on kindness, effective communication and inclusivity in higher education, something which we too have been championing through our GuildHE EDI programme. The Academic Registrars’ Council will now champion its implementation across the sector and we look forward to working collaboratively with our members to embed these principles.
The principles:
- Address feedback from students and parents
- Draw on good practice from the HE sector in the UK and beyond
- Enable HE providers to offer a good balance of support and challenge to their students
- Address the timing and content of communications, inclusivity, organisational culture, and continuous review.
