We are collaborative, inclusive, innovative, forward-thinking, brave, curious, and respectful, all while operating with integrity and focusing on impact. These are principles that guide the team's daily work and interactions with our members and those across (and beyond) the higher education sector.

Our four strategic objectives are shaping the work we are undertaking:

  1. To grow and support our community to thrive in the 21st century
  2. To strengthen GHE’s voice and raise the profile of our members
  3. To be bold advocates for and champions of a diverse sector
  4. To enhance an equitable, innovative and purposeful organisation so that we can deliver positive and sustainable change on behalf of our members

Thought leadership

Because we are focused on building a brighter tomorrow together, we take very seriously our role in sector leadership. We work to introduce new ideas, to identify best practice, and to share critical analysis of existing ways of working in order to making improvements that can deliver real impact.

We regularly publish articles and think pieces in sector media outlets like Wonkhe, the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI), and Research Professional. We are often quoted by Times Higher Education, the Guardian and other media outlets. Articles and blogs we write can be found here on our website.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We are champions of diversity and inclusion, both as a community and as individual institutions. As a team, we are committed to pursuing the highest standards in all our work, working effectively together, deepening our communication, valuing diversity in all its forms and cultivating an equitable environment for everyone. Our Board encompasses an EDI Champion who holds GuildHE accountable for our commitment to and promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion, including in policy and advocacy work, member support, and internally.

Our EDI Network meets throughout the year to bring together colleagues working and interested in championing these values, sharing the latest updates and good practice from across the sector and within our member institutions. We distribute a frequent EDI newsletter to keep our members up-to-date.

For GuildHE Research members, our Global Majority PGR (post-graduate researcher) Network aims to build an inclusive, supportive community of PGR students and early-stage researchers from global majority backgrounds at our institutions, support career and skills development, and inform our policy and advocacy work on equality, diversity and inclusion in research.
