The group of research leads meets quarterly, online or in person, to discuss policy insights and developments, hear from key stakeholders, engage in peer exchange, and inform our programme of work and policy positions.

Our annual joint symposium with the Research Leads group and GuildHE’s Knowledge Exchange, Innovation and Place Network provides the opportunity for collaboration and engage with expert speakers in the research, innovation and knowledge exchange landscape.

We also operate a Jiscmail forum, where we share key policy developments and insights, offer the opportunity for members to provide insights and feedback on policy positioning and responses, and provide a platform for peer support.

Gain expert policy insights

At each meeting, our policy experts provide senior leaders in research and innovation updates and insights into key policy developments, risks and opportunities including REF, research integrity, funding, and political developments.

Engage with key sector stakeholders

Research leads are offered unique opportunities to hear from key sector organisations and stakeholders such as UKRI, Research England, The British Academy and UK Research Integrity Office. Colleagues are provided invaluable insights and understandings into developments in the sector, provide direct insights and feedback, and champion their institution's stand-out research and innovation environments.

Inform our policy developments and programmes of work

Consortium meetings enable members to contribute to the direction of GHE Research's policy positions and advocacy on key issues such as Open Access, research integrity and REF. Research leads also benefit from informing our priorities, programmes of work to support members and shared services offer.

Benefit from peer to peer exchange

GHE Research has built a richly diverse, supportive and collegiate community of senior colleagues in research and innovation and our member institutions. Via this community, members benefit from peer support, shared best practice and engaging with institutions with diverse approaches, research models and specialisms in order to identify innovative solutions to the challenges and opportunities they are facing.
