Staff with industry experience and professional expertise, a hallmark of GuildHE institutions, is exactly what students want, according to new research
Almost two thirds (63%) of undergraduates in GuildHE universities and colleges place high value on lecturers having the relevant industry or professional experience, against an average across UK universities of 44%.
According to an independent survey, published by HEA and HEPI, GuildHE institutions stand out nationally according to their students on a range of important measures.
More than one in three (35%) of GuildHE undergraduates say they are ‘Very Satisfied’ with the overall quality of their course (the sector average is 28%).
A quarter of GuildHE students rate all their teaching staff as helpful and supportive (the sector average is one in five).
And GuildHE institutions also excel in the quality of feedback students receive from staff.
Professor Joy Carter, Chair of GuildHE and Vice Chancellor of the University of Winchester said:
“GuildHE universities and colleges demonstrate an outstanding commitment to delivering a high quality student experience. As is borne out in this survey, an emphasis on quality teaching which typically includes lecturers with industry and professional expertise and effective feedback is recognised and highly valued by students at GuildHE institutions.”
