GuildHE thanks its Chief Executive Alice Hynes for her work on its development over the past three years, as she takes up the post of Registrar at the University of Bedfordshire in September.
GuildHE Chair Professor Ruth Farwell Vice Chancellor of Bucks New University said,
“GuildHE is a community drawing its strength from the mutual support of its diverse members and Alice has served that wide range of interests with professionalism and energy. We are hugely grateful to her, both for her commitment to GuildHE, and also how she has selflessly contributed to the organisation’s development. GuildHE has enhanced its voice and visibility during her tenure; expanded and broadened its membership and increased the capability of a powerful office team that “punches above its weight”. This will give her successor a strong foundation on which to build and to support GuildHE members in responding to the complex times ahead.”
Alice Hynes said, “I have learned an enormous amount working alongside the leaders of GuildHE’s institutions, celebrated with them on their significant academic achievements on taught and research degree awarding powers and on the RAE and seen their application rates soar. Their mutual support and preparedness to have thoughtful and fair-minded debate is evidenced in the approach they took to the Browne review. I am glad to be a part of GuildHE’s work and I hope my experience will serve me well in the challenges ahead when I take up the exciting opportunity offered at the University of Bedfordshire. Meanwhile it’s business as usual with the professionalism of the GuildHE Office, in the important political and policy work of the next few months.”
