30 March 2012
The Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) today announced its funding allocations for the 2012-13 academic year.
GuildHE CEO, Andy Westwood, said:
“We echo Glyndwr University’s response to today’s announcement from HEFCW. This is disappointing news – not just for Glyndwr University – but for the people and businesses of North East Wales. They deserve strong and thriving higher education just as much as every other part of Wales, and today’s allocations undermine both individual choice and economic growth in the area.
“Like all GuildHE institutions, Glyndwr University has a resilient approach to continuing to grow and to plan around funding allocations. Glyndwr’s decision to keep fees around the £6,643 average was a measure of commitment to ensuring opportunities and choice were extended to people from all backgrounds in North East Wales.”
