GuildHE calls for immigration £21,000 salary threshold In our submission [highlight the word submission as a link to the submission] to the Migration Advisory Committee GuildHE calls for the minimum salary threshold to be reduced from the proposed £30,000 to £21,000. This lower threshold would mitigate some of impact of lower salaries in different sectors of the economy and regions of the country and better reflect the proposals to reduce the skill threshold from RQF level 6 to level 3. We also call for the impact of any salary threshold to be modelled on different sectors of the economy, such as the creative industries and agri-food sectors, to prevent any unintended consequences. We go on to argue that jobs on the Shortage Occupations List should not be subject to a salary threshold and that the salary threshold should be prorated for part-time employment.
