Dr. David Llewellyn, Vice-Chancellor of Harper Adams University has been announced as the new Chair of GuildHE. Professor Linda Drew, Vice-Chancellor of Ravensbourne University London and Professor Karen Stanton, Vice-Chancellor of York St. John University were elected as Vice-Chairs.
Dr. Llewellyn said,
“I am delighted to be able to serve as Chair of GuildHE. Whether multi-faculty or specialist, GuildHE institutions provide distinctive types of higher education that offer students choice, and they support the economy and a wide variety of communities in unique ways. I look forward to helping ensure that the vital contribution that GuildHE members make to the higher education sector is fully recognised in the challenging environment for all higher education providers that lies ahead.”
Dr. Llewellyn is a current member of the GuildHE Executive and serves on the UUK International Strategic Advisory Board. He has represented GuildHE on the Leadership Foundation Board, including during the creation of AdvanceHE. He assisted HEFCE with its review of NSS Governance and has been a member of the higher education sector’s Student Information Advisory Group.
Dr. Llewellyn takes over as Chair of GuildHE from the November 2018 AGM, when the term of Professor Joy Carter, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Winchester, comes to an end. Professor Carter has served as Chair for two terms since 2013, and on the Executive Board since 2009. Professor John Last, Vice-Chancellor of Norwich University of the Arts and Professor Andrew Brewerton, Principal of Plymouth College of Art will be stepping down as Vice-Chairs after serving since 2013.
