GuildHE is pleased to host a workshop on free speech in higher education, featuring Arif Ahmed, Director for Freedom of Speech and Academic Freedom at the Office for Students (OfS).

The workshop seeks to help members navigate decisions and reasonably practicable steps to secure freedom of speech and academic freedom, especially in complex and nuanced situations. Participants will be able to discuss challenging examples the sector has been grappling with, supported by insights and guidance from Arif. There will also be time to raise other hypothetical scenarios and questions to understand how the OfS might advise institutions to respond.

This workshop is intended for staff at GuildHE institutions who are directly involved in freedom of speech and academic freedom decision-making.
