Often in practice-led and practice-based research, the focus is on what is produced at the end. This may overlook crucial new knowledge or perspectives relating to a practice or performance tradition.

In his recent research, Pete Yelding, who completed his PhD at Bath Spa University, has developed a series of body-centred approaches that contribute to his wider novel methodology of acquiring musical knowledge through ‘learning to inhabit’. In this session, Pete will discuss these approaches and the ways in which they enable researchers to orient themselves within their subject area in dialogic ways, as exponents of knowledge rather than authorities.

Our next GuildHE Research Postgraduate Researcher Peer Support Community session is on 17 February at 2pm and will be especially useful if you are using (or are considering using):

  • autoethnography
  • embodied research methods
  • practice-led research methods

Available to GuildHE Research members only. Please email [email protected] if you would like to attend.
