As Chief Executive Officer, Professor Haig works in close consultation with the Board of Governors and Senior Members of University College staff, and with a wide range of internal and external constituencies to provide the personal and professional leadership to develop the institution in accordance with the strategy, directions and guidelines set by the Board.
Professor Haig has worked in higher education for over 20 years in a variety of role as an academic senior manager, research, practitioner and educator. She has spent the majority of her career in musculoskeletal and sports medicine, working with elite athletes and teams nationally and internationally. She led the first MSc in Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation in the UK, which provided advanced practice education for musculoskeletal practitioners from a range of professional groups.
She has contributed significantly to the professional and pedagogical development of sport and exercise rehabilitation in the UK and internationally. She acts as a technical expert and consultant for the development of professional health-related training and education in higher education and for the fitness industry. She was conferred Professor of Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation in January 2011 for her outstanding leadership in this field.
Professor Haig has many years of experience in developing academic, consultancy and research partnerships with colleagues in Asia, the US, the Middle East and across Europe.
