We are delighted to invite members to a GuildHE EDI Lunchtime Learning Webinar with special guest Dermot Daly, Senior Lecturer in Acting at Leeds Conservatoire and Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University, to talk about what Being Black and British: Before, During and After Drama School means, using Dermot's edited collection of the same name as a guide.
The session will take place on zoom and will include a presentation from Dermot, as well as a Q&A and discussion. The session will look at quotes from each section of the book, using those to explore ideas which will give grounding to increasing equality, equity, diversity and inclusion in drama school, and wider specialist educational settings. By the end of the session, it is hoped that attendees will leave with a clear sense of what can be practically done in their institutions straight away and in the long term to be more welcoming of Black British, and other marginalised students.
Dermot Daly is a researcher, lecturer, director, dramaturg and actor. He is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Drama at Leeds Conservatoire, a lecturer at Leeds School of Arts and Leeds Beckett University, and a two-time Black British Theatre Award nominated director.
Available to GuildHE members only. To learn more about how to join membership, please email [email protected]
