About TEAG

TEAG is a joint collaboration between GuildHE and UUK. It represents the views of higher education providers of initial teacher education across GuildHE’s membership, which comprises more than 60 universities and colleges across the UK, and Universities UK’s membership, comprising more than 140 universities.

As a group, TEAG was initially formed to bring together the heads of institution of those providers active in teacher education in order to ensure there was strategic oversight and consideration of the operational and policy matters affecting teacher training across the UK. It was envisioned as a mechanism through which institutions might influence the development and implementation of both government policy, including funding and regulatory policies in support of teacher education.

Over time, the group has seen attendance delegated to other staff members, whether they be senior management or teacher education representatives and colleagues find this valuable. However, TEAG has become quite duplicative of the group run by the Universities’ Council for the Education of Teachers (UCET), the CEO of which attends TEAG regularly. In discussions with UCET, we’ve agreed that the value of TEAG is in also having the senior most accountable officer of teacher education providers attending at times so that we can explore alternative avenues for deploying evidence in our pursuit of policy change and ensure that institutions active in teacher education are leading national discussions about the current and future supply of teachers.

This is a member-only event.
