The refresh has been a year long, collaborative, cross-sector undertaking involving representative bodies and research funders, consultation with key users of the Concordat, and facilitated by the UK Committee for Research Integrity.

The Concordat has provided a vital national framework and reference document for practice and governance of research integrity in the UK since 2012. The review aimed to ensure that it remains relevant in light of recent developments in research nationally and internationally, including technological advances, plus appropriately aligned with international frameworks for research governance to support research carried out in international contexts.
