A new GuildHE is on the way

We're putting the final touches to a new website and an enriched offer for our members; with new resources, policy briefings and a fresh take on the needs of vocational and technical higher education provision.

The Office for Students have announced a consultation on their proposed strategy for the period 2025 – 2030. It is based on carefully considering the insights from the Public Bodies Review and the House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee report, which identified areas for improvement. It has also adopted many of the GuildHE recommendations made in our regulation briefing series. Student engagement has also been central to developing the new strategy, and the OfS sought the views of prospective, current, and former students.

Dr Brooke Storer-Church, Chief Executive Officer of GuildHE said:

“We welcome the announcement of a consultation on the Office for Students strategy proposals for 2025 to 2030. GuildHE will continue to engage with the OfS to ensure that all HE institutions – especially those with a vocational and technical focus, specialists and smaller providers – can thrive and deliver the Labour government’s ambitions. Protecting the student interest and protecting institutional diversity go hand in hand, and we continue to champion the strength brought to the UK higher education sector by our member institutions.”

This consultation runs from 12 December 2024 to 20 February 2025. GuildHE will be circulating a draft of our consultation response for member comment by the end of January.

OfS are running a series of feedback events for students and their representatives, universities, specialist providers, and colleges. View the dates
