As the government considers higher education reform, Dr Brooke Storer-Church and Dr Kate Wicklow make the case for why specialist HEIs are crucial to the success of UK Higher Education and the Government’s priorities and warn against the dangers of homogenisation in a new article for HEPI.
The article complements our recent submission to the Department for Education on HE reform ‘Smaller-scale, specialist and non-traditional institutions are key to delivering Government priorities’. It features a wealth of examples from 29 of our members, demonstrating how GuildHE institutions are already delivering the government’s ambitions, being agile to both industry and regional demand whilst providing excellent student experiences.
Our proposals to the Department for Education last week including ensuring their HE reform packages centre institutional diversity, student needs, sustainability, and collaboration.
In blog piece, ‘We must not lose diversity while pushing for reforms‘, Dr Kate Wicklow set out our broad support of the five areas along with our key recommendations.
