The Office for Students has set out its vision for higher education regulation with a new strategy for 2025 to 2030.

In its strategy, we recognise and welcome a new commitment by the OfS to work more collaboratively with the sector. The strategy clearly incorporates sector feedback, including many of GuildHE's specific points, and we look forward to working on its implementation.

There are notable omissions, though. While it cannot capture everything, the strategy is silent on its duty under HERA to protect sector diversity; a priority underlined in the White Paper. It is equally silent on how collaboration will feature in its sector resilience work, how OfS will define its risk-based approach to regulation into the future, what measures it will take to reduce burden on providers, and how it will demonstrate good value for money itself. We will continue to challenge OfS on these important strategic areas of work as we collaborate with it to secure a sustainable future for our sector.
