GuildHE CEO Dr Brooke Storer-Church responds to today’s proposal by the Office for Students for a new quality assessment system linked to the Teaching Excellence Framework.

"We welcome OfS's collaborative spirit in designing a new, more transparent approach to quality monitoring. We believe in and encourage strong partnerships as well as efforts to reduce regulatory burden, so stand ready and eager to contribute our energies to building a system that works for all.

We are concerned, however, by the suggestion that salary data should be used as a measure of degree quality given that many high-quality graduates choose careers for which pay is not commensurate with value like nurses, teachers, farmers, creative artists of all kinds and many other professionals. We will continue to work with OfS to highlight these risks in order to strengthen proposals."
