In this Times Higher Education article, GuildHE CEO Dr Brooke Storer-Church commented on the Office for Students' pause of degree-awarding powers (DAPs) applications while it undertakes a two-stage reform consultation.
While we welcome efforts to improve our regulatory system, we are disappointed to see OfS pause its statutory duties again. Pauses like these jeopardise institutional strategic planning and budget exercises at a time of enormous financial strain for so many institutions, which then weakens students’ access to opportunity.
We will work constructively with OfS colleagues to minimise the duration of this pause, doing everything we can to secure the future of our distinctive institutions and the futures of young people across the country.
